Casa

Our Casa or Primary program is for children ranging in age from 2½ to 6 years old. Children can attend full or half day programs five days a week. Once they are 5 years old, they must attend full day in order to continue in our Elementary program.

Children in the Primary program are taught individually or in small groups. All learning is at each child’s pace and level of ability. The unique Montessori materials help your child understand what is taught by associating an abstract concept with concrete sensorial experiences. Hands and minds work together; doing, rather than merely watching. The Montessori materials themselves generally fall into five groups: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language and Culture. The children work through the materials at their own pace with help and encouragement from the teacher and older students. By the end of the Casa program, the children are beginning to read fluently, do four-digit mathematics, recognize geometrical shapes and identify the parts of a plant, mammal and fish. And they have also learned much more: independence and what it means to be part of a community, and what rights and responsibilities each member of this community has. They learn to be empowered and to be appropriately assertive rather than aggressive.

"Free the child’s potential, and you will transform him into the world."
