Elementary Classroom Assistant

The Mildenhall School is looking for a qualified elementary classroom assistant starting September 2019. This is a great opportunity for a newly trained elementary teacher to gain valuable experience in a Montessori classroom.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Supporting the lead teacher to deliver high-fidelity Montessori education 

Establishing a child-centred classroom that encourages children to be independent and to respect themselves and others 

Fostering a feeling of joy and discovery 

Ensuring a safe and caring environment for students and their parents 

Having effective communication skills, and actively and positively interacting with parents in both formal and informal settings 

The ideal candidate has:

AMI or MACTE approved Montessori Elementary or Casa training or experience in a Montessori environment.

Enthusiasm for working in a collaborative environment

Respect for children and a friendly demeanour

Current Standard First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain 

Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within past 6 months 

Hours for this position are 8:30am-4:30pm.

SUMMER PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Mildenhall Montessori Schools is seeking an extraordinary Summer Program Assistant.  We run a summer program for children 18 months to 6 years at our High Park Gardens location. The Assistant, in partnership with the Program Director and lead guides will be responsible for carrying out the day to day summer programming (arts and crafts, games, Montessori materials, outings, and free play)  in a caring and attentive manner. There is opportunity to work up to 8 weeks during July and August 2019. This is an opportunity for creative, enthusiastic, and inspiring individuals who are interested in the education of young children.

High Park Gardens is a Montessori school accredited by the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators and listed with the Ontario Ministry of Education as an independent school. It currently provides an authentic Montessori education for children aged 18 months to 12 years old.  It also provides an enriched experience in French, music, art and sports, and offers March break and summer programming. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist with the delivery of quality programming for children aged 18 mos - 6 years old (10-16 children per group)

- Ensure children are able to engage with the planned activities and assist them when needed

- Communicate any concerns to the lead guide and/or Program Director

- Assist in all additional duties as assigned by the Program Director

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/ QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:

- Experience working with young children is required

- Must be at least 16 years of age

- Montessori experience is preferred but not required

- Previous summer camp experience preferred

- Valid First Aid & CPR (Child and Infant) certification required

- Must be able to provide current clear Police Criminal Background Check for Vulnerable Sector

- Energetic and Enthusiastic

After school care assistant


High Park Gardens Montessori School is looking for a qualified part-time after school care assistant starting immediately, ECE or Montessori-trained. Hours are Monday - Friday, 3-6pm, with the opportunity to also supply teach when needed if you are a Montessori graduate.


The ideal candidate has:

  • AMI or MACTE approved Montessori Casa training or ECE (not mandatory but preferred).

  • secondary skills/training in specific areas, including French, music, art and athletic pursuits

  • enthusiasm for working in a collaborative environment
